You will be tasked with assigning crew members across various areas of mechanical development, including engine, framework, electrics and aerodynamics. In-game tutorials are available to help newcomers ease into the basics, which seems rather appropriate for a videogame that takes this much skill to master.Īs you might’ve come to expect, effective team management and motorcycle development are also key elements for campaign progression. Despite the fact that you’ll be given the option to jump straight into the MotoGP class and be part of an existing team, we’d argue that creating your own crew and making your way up the lower classes (Moto2 and Moto3) is a far more rewarding experience. Given that the single-player career mode is what makes this franchise so intriguing, let’s take a quick look at what it has to offer.

Sure enough, updated consoles provide the perfect breeding ground for enhanced graphics, and this particular game takes full advantage of that opportunity! Although it looks considerably better than its predecessors, improvements on gameplay features can’t be referred to as revolutionary, but they’re certainly much appreciated.

Thus, it is the developer’s first MotoGP entry for the newest generation of gaming consoles, while the system requirements for running it on your PC remain modest.

First things first, Milestone’s latest motorsport simulator is available for purchase on several platforms, including Xbox One, Series X and Series S, as well as Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and PS5. Since we’ve wasted no time getting our hands on a copy, we’re about to find out whether the latest installment lives up to that brave statement.Īt this time, there are as many opinions on it as there are review platforms, so we’re inclined to think that sharing our personal thoughts on this thing is a welcome feat. On April 22nd, Milestone delighted our hearts with the official release of MotoGP 21 – a highly anticipated title that promises to offer “ the most authentic MotoGP experience” you’ve ever come across. On the other hand, their MotoGP simulation franchise is not to be sniffed at either. In 2020, the Italians unleashed what some claimed to be the best motorcycle racing game of the year, namely Ride 4.
It’s like having a Discovery Turbo documentary featured inside an already excellent story mode, complete with a surprising amount of unlockable pilots, which then become available on MotoGP 22‘s more traditional “arcade modes”.Milan-based videogame developer Milestone is a genuine blessing for gamers who also happen to be into two-wheeled racetrack action. You’re then told to relive these highlights via a handful of scenarios, all while being greeted to some incredibly well-narrated cutscenes featuring footage of the season in question. The reason for it is simple: 2009 is arguably considered the best season in MotoGP history, with four main pilots battling neck to neck for the trophy, with some shocking upsets and heroic antics along the way. The best part about this 2022 game is being able to relive 2009. In it, you’re thrown into the 2009 MotoGP season. What makes this game better than any other MotoGP title, as well as any other motorbike racing simulator in recent memory, is a mode called Nine Season 2009. The lifelong Milestone tradition of giving you an undercooked and borderline useless character creator for the sake of it. The usage of the DualSense’s adaptive triggers remains the same no need to fix what isn’t broken. You will fall down a few dozen times at first.
However, it will require a bit of patience and hard work from you before you’re able to actually beat races with ease. As always, it does feature a ton of tutorials and racing aids to make this seemingly newcomer-unfriendly title less intimidating for rookies.
It also retains the same gameplay as before, which can best be described as “still hard for newcomers, still somewhat punishing, but when compared to other motorbike racing simulators, it’s like playing Mario Kart“. Given how the game runs at incredibly high speeds, you won’t pay a lot of attention to them, but they do stand out in pre-race cutscenes.

It still looks pretty decent, with well-built motorbikes and a phenomenal framerate backed by the highest of resolutions, with the rest of its assets (props, pilots, etc) being comprised of what I can only assume are the exact same props used in the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Technically speaking, there isn’t a lot that differs MotoGP 22 from its 2021 iteration. Still tough, but full of tutorials and aids to make it look like it cares about your feelings.
